Question / Help Setting an absolute cap on game audio and mic audio?

Hello, I'd like to set an absolute cap on game audio and my mic, what's the best way to do this? I don't want my game audio overpowering my mic, or my mic being too loud to the point that the game audio can barely be heard either.

Any ideas? Tips? Suggestions?

Usually, you want your voice (mic) being heard by your audience as primary audio and your game as secondary audio in the background.

As far as I understand the sidechain/ducking source feature of the compressor filter of OBS, you would add the compressor filter to your game audio and configure your mic as sidechain/ducking source in the settings of the filter. This way, your game audio is compressed/ducked if signal from your voice is detected.
This post explains sidechain/ducking source: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/cant-get-the-new-ducking-feature-to-work.83056/post-347111

To level your voice as well and smooth out any shouts (lower) or whispers (amplify), you might add a compressor filter to your mic as well, but don't configure any sidechain/ducking source. Not necessary if you are able to speak steadily in the first place and will neither suddenly shout or whisper.
