Question / Help "Set Base Resolution" missing in the latest update.

So I updated to OBS 0.613b and I can no longer find that "Set Base Resolution" option that's normally at the bottom of the options when setting up Window Capture. I had come to rely on that to quickly change change my resolution without having to go digging into settings every time I played a game with a different size or Aspect Ratio (really helpful for DS games). I wanted to know if I'm just blind and it was moved somewhere else, or is there now no quick way to change your resolution?

As far as I know it was removed because people used it without knowing what they do (and I mean, a lot of people). It then often set their base resolution to some strange values and they wondered why their stream looks so strange :)
Maybe we could think of a better way to re-add this button, you are not the first one that mentions using it for the correct purpose :D

Contemplating putting it back in, but I would prefer it if there were a better way to handle this situation.

I personally found it to be really useful but I could see some people not realizing exactly what it does. Maybe if there were a tool-tip like other things do when you hover over something for a bit that explained it? I dunno. I just found it useful is all, and would like to see it back in.

Yeah, I did this on accident and it messed up my scenes. Was really annoying... seems like something with this much overall impact would have an 'are you SURE you want to set your base streaming resolution to XYZ? Y/N' dialog.

I thought about this, in the Video settings of OBS, add a 3rd selector:
Custom
Monitor
Window
and the Window gets a drop-down that represents the Window capture dropdown but in this case sets the custom res to the size of the selected window ?!

Another +1 for the button as I used it daily as often need to record different portions of a window with changing sizes.

In regards to people mistakenly clicking, it I do agree the text wasn't clear on it's function; but imo that shouldn't be a reason to remove it. As said I think a tooltip would work well (A confirmation box would become annoying for regular users of the function; unless it had "don't ask again").

Glad it's open source so I can recompile in the meantime :D

I'm really missing this too. Having to constantly go to 'Settings > Settings > Video' to change the base resolution is a big pain in the butt =(. I do this at least 10-15 times every recording session.

Out of curiosity, why do you need to change your base resolution so much? What are you doing that necessitates so many different resolutions of videos so frequently? I'm having a hard time coming up with use cases where such frequent resolution changes would really be so necessary.

If you want to save a click, just click the "Settings" button next to the Sources box instead of going through the menu bar.

I create a lot of video tutorials and I use OBS to capture a portion of a window (usually from the browser) to be edited into a final video. This requires using a "Window Capture" source and then selecting a "Sub-Region", after which I used to use the "Set Base Resolution" button to set the base resolution of the size of the Sub-Region. Now I have to copy down the Sub-Region size, go into the menus and manually enter the base resolution.

We'll probably add it back in. For the time being, use an older version
