Question / Help Serious Lag Issues

Hello

I realize that Obs uses alot of cpu to process things, but somehow it just feels like It is using too much or something is wrong with my CPU.

I will start off with my specs :

My pc specs : i7 2600 3.4Ghz, MSI GTX 770 2GB, 16Gb ram, 64bit
Upload +-6 Mb, Download : 20 Mb/

When I stream, my game runs fine +-60fps , but every 2 minutes my Cpu Usage will go to 70-100% causing huge lag spikes (+-15 fps wise) ingame. I feel like I should be able to stream fine with the settings I have, but the constant lag is getting old fast.

Games that I am having issues with : Infestation Survivor Stories, Arma 3, Dayz Standalone, Arma 2/OA, Rome 2 Total War

OBS settings : CBR on, CBR padding on, Max Bitrate : 2500, Buffer Size : 1850

Downscaled resolution from 1920x1080 to 1280x720, Fps is set at 30

Advanced is default.

Lowering settings ingame
I have tried countless things to get rid of this issue such as proper virus scans, to changing boot up programs in "msconfig"
Unparking Cpu cores
Trying diffrent GPU drivers
Changing looks of W7 to the old and gray to increase performance
*sigh*

Now my main question is, can I fix it, or do I need a better Cpu ?

Added a log file too

Any help is MUCH appreciated !!

The vast majority of the CPU usage goes to the video encoder, x264. The things that affect CPU usage the most are output resolution (downscale in video settings), FPS, and x264 CPU preset (though with your computer you should just leave the CPU preset as-is).

Your log doesn't particularly say anything bad about the CPU at all. In fact it seems to be running well. Perhaps something else on your system is using CPU usage outside of OBS and the games?

Well as far as I can see, the only things using alot of cpu is my game and OBS, I will reformat my pc later today, as I have tried countless things without results.

Unfortunately I couldn't tell you specifically what's wrong without being on the PC myself. I doubt that reformatting is necessary. Your CPU is pretty good for streaming, as is your GPU.

Reformatted, and the issue is still there, Obs seems to jump from using +- 20% cpu to +50% causing the game to increase aswell an almost reach 100%, with the result of crazy lag

How about removing everything from your OBS scene apart of the game capture. Best, use a fresh install of OBS with no other plugins installed. Then do another test. The games you mentioned are not really the easiest to stream, especially day-z and war-z. But I would also think that your CPU should be enough.
So, setup just one scene and only add the game, no images, webcam or other sources. Then test a bit.

You could check which output formats you can select for the webcam and test the different ones, or try using it at a lower resolution than the 1280x720. Another option is to connect it to another USB port, preferably one that has no other USB devices connected to the same (internal) hub.

I have already tried different USB ports, but trying the resolution thing now, will get back and let you know the results soon

Ok, did some testing on 1280x720, and it seems to be gone, I think we might have FINALLY fixed this issue.

Thank you all !
