separate save to file from the live stream start and stop options.
in other words,
option to start and stop save file without interrupting the broadcast.

please add this feature so we don't have to use additional recording software.
this is especially useful in not wasting comp resources unnecessarily.
for now hopefully all i can do is live stream with obs and record with ffsplit.

thank you very much

You can do it this way: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2089

I find that -portable is absolutely needed if you're going to use -multi. Or else you're stuck resetting settings every time you open one window or the other. Downside is that it takes twice the processing resources.

Which brings me to another point. Adaptive Bitrate Streamers are able to stream to many different resolutions, bitrates, profiles, presets, etc simultaneously on a CPU no better than what I'm using in my encoding PC right now. This means that the encoding process is nearly the same most of the way through no matter which output format it takes. So we can expect that OBS will eventually be able to not need -multi to send a 720p 3000cbr stream to Twitch and simultaneously record a 1080p 20crf .mp4 to the hard drive, and do it using nearly the same CPU resources it takes to do one of those today. Its on the roadmap, I just have to be patient. :)

Adaptive Bit Rate is often done on the server-side, not the client, for what it's worth.
