I wanted to know if there are any plans to incorporate a separate recording option, similar to Xsplit, where I could stream at one quality level, but record in another so I can get a better quality version for youtube while not overdoing the stream quality and getting dropped frames.

depending on your setup and cpu capabilities, what you can do at the moment is run multiple instances of OBS
**** WARNING, SEVERE CPU POWER NEEDED ****
create a shortcut to the obs.exe and append -multi
now to use 2 different profiles/settings you can run one obs.exe also with the -portable option. this way it will use the settings files saved in the obs folder, while the other still uses the ones out of %appdata%
you will have to see how capturing your game two times works, and if it does. and you will probably have to tweak your settings alot to get everything smooth.

i have multiple profiles for streaming and local recording i will use the first instance with a streaming profile and the other one with the local profile

edit: this not seem to work, the second OBS instance will just show a black screen
