I'm really frustrated with audio capture levels fluctuating based on system-volume in the new OBS studio.
From digging around, it seems like the old OBS captured at a fixed volume level regardless of system volume. (my desired behavior)
With the new OBS, my capture volume fluctuates based on my system volume level... which makes no sense to me. Also, oddly, it snaps to full volume if I *mute* the output, which also makes no sense to me. (i would think if it was listening to system volume, muting would mute capture)
What I don't understand is... since the new OBS is fully capable of recording audio at a fixed volume (what happens when muted), how about a setting toggle to as to whether the audio capture is attenuated by system-volume-level or not.. so those of us who want it to capture consistent volume can do this.... This makes it much easier to tune gain, because it stays the same regardless of our current listening volume setting.
I've read about using virtual audio cable and virtual devices.. but this is alot of trouble for something that the old OBS did fine, and seems likle a trivial thing to do in the new OBS. I also don't want to set the system volume to 100% and use the windows mixer per-app to tune volume. That's a complete mess, and I want to use my nice keyboard media volume keys to tune my in-ear volume.
