Question / Help Select Input Device as Desktop Audio

Hello everyone,

Firstly I'm brand new to this forum and would like to say a great big hi to you all.

Right, so I think I'm going slightly mad here but I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I have used OBS for a long time and have recently had to reinstall a lot of applications (including OBS)

My question is:
What happened to the "select input device for desktop audio" option in the audio settings? Has it disappeared in an update or have I missed something during my setup?

I have always used this option for my Audio Source as I capture it from Line In on my sound card. Without going in to massive detail use and external sound mixer that feed to line in.

Hope someone has an answer and thanks again.

PS: If you're reply is likely to mention VAC's then please don't, this isn't an option for me due to a complex audio setup, I simply need to know where the "select input device as desktop audio" function has gone

Regards

Matt

It was removed from the regular options because way too many people enabled it without knowing what it was and ruined their entire sound setup. It is now an INI only option, pretty sure we mentioned in the changelog how to enable it now.

Straight from https://obsproject.com/changelog , here it is:
* Remove 'use input devices for desktop audio' and make it so it can only be used via ini file. If you need to use it, then enable it in your profile ini file in %appdata%\obs\profiles, under [Audio], InputDevicesForDesktopSound=1 -- we are not going to provide an option in the UI for this because people kept enabling it without know what they were doing.
