Question / Help Seeing Grainy/Pixelated Effect at Max Settings

CPU Specs: i7 3770k
gtx 780ti sc

Bandwidth Speeds: 30mb down and 20mb up

OBS Settings: CBR and CBR padding on
Max Bitrate at 3500
Video Resolution at 1920x1080
FPS at 60
Multithreaded Optimizations on
Use CFR on
Use Quick Sync on

I am trying to stream using 1080p at 60fps while using max bitrate of 3500. The quality looks amazing, but when moving there is an extremely noticeable grainy/pixelated pic. I have already tried to lower the CPU Preset to fast from very fast and that did not seem to work. If you guys have any suggestions as to what I need to do to fix the problem I am all ears. I am trying to stream BF4 later today and would love to have the issue resolved by then.

3500 is simply a very low bit rate for 1080p60. It works for a few select games where there's not a lot of motion, but for a first person shooter, it's not really going to look good.

You're also using QuickSync, where changing the preset does nothing (it's already set to max quality available by default), and it inherently looks worse than x264 on veryfast.

If you really want/need to use QuickSync, I would suggest dropping the resolution to 1280x720 and the frame rate to 30 for an acceptable result. (But even then, Twitch's maximum key frame interval of two seconds isn't going to do the video quality any favors.) Upgrading to a 4770K would also get you better quality, since QuickSync uses an improved encoder on Haswell CPUs.

I was using quicksync for OBS since it seemed to hit my gameplay when i ran at 720 at 60fps before. There was a bit of chop. Quicsync allowed me to play 1080 60fps with no chop, but I am glad to know that is the problem. I guess I need to look into overclocking the cpu a bit then to negate the chop. Thanks for the info.
