Question / Help Seeing conflicting information: keep Game Mode on or off?

There are various posts out there about the 1809 update, and the obs wiki says that Game Mode should be kept on.

However, multiple users and testimonies are also vouching for having this both on and off.

I have a feeling that there's more to it than just on or off is better, so if someone could give some advice on how I could determine whether I want this on or off, that would be helpful. Thank you!

As of Windows 10 1903, it's recommended to set game mode on, because this Windows version starts support for OBS-like apps that are running parallel to a game and must not be starved from system resources.
For obsolete Windows versions, i. e. older than 1903, it's recommended to set game mode off.
