Are you sure it's OBS itself that is "going black" or is your RTSP device dropping its signal or are you experiencing network congestion? You can probably test this by having another source that is not an RTSP device somewhere on your canvas and seeing if the entire stream goes black or if it's just the source going away.

A few side notes:
  1. You should manually update to OBS 21.1.2. The auto-updater in 21.1.0 is broken.
  2. Both PCs are fairly underpowered, and it seems your straining the hardware as it is. You should probably disable the Windows 10 Game features and run as little as possible in the background,
  3. You'll probably want to change your RTSP device's password after this, because it's embedded in the logs as part of the source URL.

Probably your media source disconnected.
Look for rtsp on the forum
(like this one: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/rtsp-stream-disconnected-after-a-while.78180/#post-357753
or this one: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/solved-obs-not-reloading-ip-camera-stream.72290/#post-338068 - maybe it possible through the scripts too.)

You can add any working camera source (Video Capture Device) to the current scene collection (make sure that it works), then remove this source 'Video Capture Device' source from the current scene collection. Now, during this OBS Studio session, in the log, you may find details about the 'Media Source' troubles (upload this new log-file if your media source goes black).

It was going black just with the obs running, not connected to rtsp. after one minute starting obs it would go black. It's been running flawlessly for the last few days. Can't figure it out.

Please provide a log file of this occurring without relying on an RTSP device. How are you verifying that the OBS output has gone black?

This still doesn't attempt to recreate the issue without an RTSP device/stream, and there are no other sources overlaid on top of it to confirm if it's just the RTSP device going black or if it's the entire OBS stream. Please attempt to recreate the failure as I've instructed.

You also have not manually updated OBS to the latest version.
