I don't understand why but I just can't make OBS work, I always get a black screen when I preview what I'm recording.
This is what I get:

Would be awesome if someone could help me. Thank you.

What video adapter have you chosen from settings? In video tab.

Also monitor capture works better with aero disabled.

Okay hmmm then its not causing the problem. I was thinking your Windows could have been rendered with another gpu which causes blackscreen from other. But thats not the problem then.

Could you post your log (if there are many logs just post the latest one. Here is how-to: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=97
(Put it here in between code tags or put it to pastebin so its easier to read)

I went to dxdiag on my start menu and that GPU is the only one that appears.

Correct that output resolution from 1364x768 to 1366x768 (typo i guess :p ). And using monitor capture make sure you have aero disabled. If it's enabled it will fuck things up. And with 1000 bit rate you should downscale from 1366x768 to XXXx480 (cant remember the right width for 480p but you'll find it from the downscale dropdown menu)

Aero can be disabled by ticking the check box for it in Video tab and then click ok and restart obs. Aero will be disabled when obs starts

It worked! I turned off the Aero and it started showing my monitor! I just don't have any XXX x 480, only 780x438, 910x512.

By the way if it's not asking too much could you tell the better way to stream a game on twitch.tv?

Goood :p Choose the closest one which would be that 910x512 :p downscaling will improve the image quality since 1000 bitrate is not enough for your full native resolution :p also most of the people will view it in small size anyway so its looking good. Only few people view streams in full screen.

What games are you playing? Best method will always be Game Capture but if your game runs Directx 8 or older Window capture is the way to go. Window capture requires Aero enabled to work :) But yeah what games you play so i can tell you what method to use.

Okay just capture it with Game Capture then :) You can untick the "disable aero on startup" setting from the OBS Video settings since with game capture it doesn't matter if it's on or not. (Restart obs again after changing that aero setting)

Thank you a lot for your help, if it wasn't for you I would still be stuck with a black screen, since online I couldn't find a single solution for it. : )
