First off, I'd just like to say thank you for making this.
I love streaming, but my computer is rather sub-par in terms of streaming standards, so even though I like to stream, Xsplit always took a major hurt on my game's performance. This problem is no more thanks to the great optimization of OBS. Not having to deal with audio encoding or FPS limitations is also a huge plus.
Anyways, moving on to the two features I'd like to see in OBS before I make a full transition over to it:
I do a lot of chatting with my stream viewers, and as a result, I like to overlay the chat on my stream, so other stream viewers can see what I'm talking about/who I'm talking to. This was easily done in Xsplit by using the screen region tool to select my IRC client, changing my IRC client's background to black, and then adding in a black chroma key.
If there's a way to do this that I don't know about, please let me know. Thank you. :D
Here's what my Xsplit settings for this looked like:
Like a lot of other gamers out there, I listen to music when I play. When I started streaming though, I was often asked "What are you listening to?". This was remedied by setting up a .txt file that exported the song that I was listening to to it, then having Xsplit read in that file and check for updates every so many seconds. That way no one ever had to ask, as the song I was currently listening to was always up to date.
Here's what my Xsplit settings for this looked like:
Sadly though, I haven't found out a way to do this in OBS, so I haven't committed a full move over to this program yet.
Other than that though, everything is perfect. Audio sounds clear, I get great in-game as well as stream FPS, and everything is very clear on stream. Thanks for making such an awesome program.
