Scene Cleaner is a plugin that helps you organize your OBS Scene Collection. It provides a visual interface to map sources to scenes, identifying "orphaned" sources (those not used in any scene) and allowing you to manage them easily.

The instructions bundled with the plugin installs into an installed copy of OBS Studio (which may require elevated privileges) or into a portable install.

In the case of an installation directory, be advised that if you uninstall OBS Studio, all your plugins, regardless of installation method and regardless of your intention as to their disposition, will be deleted!

These instructions are for those of us who prefer the %PROGRAMDATA%\obs-studio\plugins (I will be assuming C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins for the sake of discussion) method of installation). This does not require any elevated privileges.

Here's what you do:
  • Open the ZIP file.
  • Descend into the tree into the "obs-studio" directory. You will see the directory "64bit" in it.
  • If you are using 7-Zip, click the "extract" button. In the destination path, enter either "C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\scene-cleaner\bin" as the destination directory in the "Copy to" dialog. Click OK. The path elements will be created.
And that's it!

You will need to make changes to your extraction procedure if you use something like Windows Explorer or WinRAR.
