Saving OBS File/Stream

Good afternoon. Some advice please.

Just started using OBS for streaming on Mixcloud. Run through the set up procedure and everything seems correct. Clicked stream on OBS, went back to Mixcloud and it was LIVE. Stopped streaming, went to Mixcloud to upload but there is no file to upload from my PC. Does OBS automatically save streams to my PC or do I have to set up somewhere to save?

Kind regards Sean.

There might be a small misunderstanding on your side what streaming and "being live" means. It means the moment you click "Start Streaming" on OBS, OBS will send what you capture within OBS to your streaming provider, and this streaming provider is making this stream directly and instantly available to your viewers, so the viewers will see your actions with no delay. That's the meaning of "live". It's like live in TV. No recording in between.

So you don't need to upload anything afterwards. It already happened.

Usually, streaming providers keep a recording of your stream, so people who missed your live session are able to watch it on demand afterwards. However that's some setting on your streaming provider. They might or might not keep your stream as VOD (video on demand).

In case you want to record locally, edit, then upload, don't use "Start Streaming". Instead use "Start recording", post-process you recording with whatever software you like, then upload the result to your video provider.
