Same web cam, different source, doesn't work

I have two different sources for my webcam: one that's a big full screen for a scene of just speaking directly at the camera, and another that's cropped so it fits in a frame at the corner of the screen when I'm sharing my screen. Both sources use the same webcam.

The problem is, only one of them works at a time. When one of them is showing video, I switch scenes to the other and it's blank.

What's going on?

Is the second instance, the PIP, on top of or below the full screen? Did you make sure it's visible (check the eye icon)?

You can't have two sources using the same hardware input device. As you wrote yourself, one actively is blocking the others access.

Instead use one single source. On the second scene at time of inserting the source please choose "existing one" in the dialog. So u can use the same source in two different scenes. The graphical arrangement may differ, so you can have it in one scene full-screen centered while in the other scene cropped/resized/moved to corner, as you wish.

Disable controls in the source like "Close when invisible" (or something similar) to prevent the risk of driver connection being closed for a fraction of a second during scene switch.
