I can sometimes get all 5 cameras connected in one scene. However never have I been able to KEEP these cameras connected. It drops camera's random. Sometimes the noname ones drop sometimes the Logitech one's drop. Seems I get the same error every time.

The cameras should not be in use in other programs.
And you should not be using usb hubs for the webcams.

Running some cams through Hub. Will connect and test. Thanks. I use Debut as a test but make a habit of rebooting after to make sure to release the camera after test. Only see the issue in OBS, then again Debut will only show 2 cameras at one time.

Seems to be better now not connecting via hub. Thanks for the help. I have 10 ports on the PC 1 used for hub to connect keyboard and Mouse, would I be limited to 9 cameras in this configuration? can I add on PCI usb card to handle more cameras?

ideally pci-e with a controller per port
Thanks for info. I I am seeing that some seem to have one controller for anywhere from four to seven ports but it looks like some have four dedicated channels. I'm guessing that's what you mean so that each channel has 5 GB of bandwidth as opposed to sharing 5gb a bandwidth between four different Port connections. Does that sound right. I'm also reading is there a difference between the bandwidth available for a PCI and pcie I'm guessing pcie is the way to go

That one wouldn't be ideal actually. Because of how USB routing behaves for webcams, you'd potentially have similar problems with that card.

Is this what we're talkin about I'm getting a little blurry eyed I've been reading about the different bandwidth available within how many ports are available some cards seem to have 5 GB four ports while others have 10 Gb and four ports and some up to 20 gigabytes 4 ports. Doh, so far the theory of throw as much money at it as you can seems to be close to accurate hear LOL

That startech one would be the better one.

If you want to save money, look into usb 2.0 ones with similar hardware (separate controller per usb channel)
