RTSP Stream Not Previewing in Studio Mode

Hey so here is the issue. 2x PTZ optics cameras. Pulling the RTSP steams into OBS. They work.
Switch over to studio Mode and turn off 'eye' on one camera and then transition works great.
switch which camera is on in the preview and it only shows black... when I transition to the second camera stream the program output goes black then a second later it reconnects to the stream and shows the image.

Why wont it connect in the preview window?

I have the same issue. Can't do anything useful in OBS with 3 PTZ cameras and RTSP. VMix works flawlessly but trying to transition. Any luck with a fix?

May 2026, confirming this is still an issue. If you bring cameras into OBS via RTSP, which isn't uncommon, any time you transition you will be given a black screen, then it cuts to the RTSP feed. i.e. Unlike a normal transition from one scene to another, 2 RTSP cameras can't do that. A transition will make the stream display black(because RTSP isn't loaded in preview mode for the scene you want to transition to) then abruptly cut to the camera feed(Now that the camera is NOT in preview mode, the feed loads in).
-This essentially makes using RTSP cameras unless you want to wipblash your audience with a black screen everytime you want to transition to a RTSP camera.
-Note: this is only a problem in Studio Mode. Transitions not in studio mode work as espected.

OBS 32.1.2 64 bit - Windows 10
After some more testing I solved the problem.
When using RTSP input via a "Media Source" you need to uncheck "Restart playback when source becomes active" to view your RTSP input in the preview window when in studio mode.
Note that "Show nothing when playback ends" & "Close file when inactive" are what actually cause the source to display black when in preview mode. However, that'll only happen when "Restart playback when source becomes active" is checked, which causes the input to freeze/stop updating when the source enters preview mode.
