Resolution settings

I cant get this to work no matter what I try. Have been using OBS and for more then 4 years now. I set up another livestream with a Sony EVI-H100, DVI out, adapter to HMI then into a Datavideo NVS-34. I set both for 720/29.97 and obs as the same as well. Yet Youtube keeps telling me the resolution isnt optimal and my video is terrible. It takes a snapshot and shows that for few munites, then another and so on. Audio is fine, but no matter what I try I keep getting undesireable results. The streaming laptop could be suspect. Its an older i5. Any recommendations how to get this to work?

We need a log! :v
Open OBS, then go to Help -> Log Files and there you will see 4 options, two of them for uploading logs. Try to make a private stream so that you can "insert it" in the last log and then upload the current log file, posting here the link.

I suspect this is due to some settings that shouldn't be like that but I can't tell without logs!

I use an i5 8th - so it's possible to stream/record with it. Once you post your log files, the community will be able to help you more.
