Hello! I'm an aspiring YouTube Creator and i want to use OBS for my recording software but there is a problem... I have a NVIDIA GEForce Gt 740 and whenever I would go to record my game-play, I set my aspect ratio in the settings at 1600x900, because that is what my monitor is set to, but when i go to record the video it looks perfectly fine in the recording preview on the OBS window but when i go to watch my recording it looks like i filmed it with a potato, aka LOW Resolution bad. I tried everything i know, changed the resolution to 1280x720, added resolution downscale, changed my filter to Lanzcos and bicubic sharper, but nothing i do works. The best picture i got was with the settings of 1600x900-Aspect Ratio, 2.00 (800x450)-Downscale, and Lanczos Filter. I have no clue what to do about this, I don't know if I should try Window or Monitor capture, or if that is even worth attempting but i just want to get good quality videos out to the public, PLEASE HELP!

It may just be that your GT 740 is too slow. OBS requires a decent gaming-grade video card, due to some of the tricks it uses to run faster that other screen recording software. The GT 740 is pretty low end (thus GT instead of GTX) and may not have the capabilities that OBS needs.

Anyways, you might try using NVEnc recording instead of x264. That might get around this limitation. When using NVEnc, choose the High Performance (HP) preset. Give it a try for at least five minutes, and then post your OBS log file. Don't use a downscale when trying it, and put your bitrate at 20000.
