Question / Help Resolution issues base vs out - issues

Hi guys,

I've been struggling with this now for a few days, well weeks on and off but only now have I put some effort into resolving my problem. I'm stuck!

So my monitor resolution is running at 2560X1080. I have my OBS set as follows;

Base Canvas Res 2560X1080 > Out (scaled) Resolution set to 1980X1080 as I will upload my recordings to youtube as 16.9 however, my recordings always look squished up, see screenshots of in-game vs what is recorded.

I am totally stuck, and honestly, I've been reading lots of posts and guide and still just can't figure it out, maybe I'm old!

Any help would be much appreciated.

This happens, because the aspect ratio of your source is different to the aspect ratio of your output.

tl;dr: make your source the same aspect ratio as your output, if you don't want black bars or distortion. And you don't want black bars or distortion.

Thank you for the guide, as it happens, about an hour of continuing to play around with resolutions I managed to get it working I believe.
My base and output canvas have both been set to 2560 X 1080 but I then applied a filter to my source, to force a resolution being recorded of 1920x810 and now I no longer have the squished look. Uploaded a test to youtube too and it looks good :)

Just need to see if this works for streaming :) - onto the next challenge.
