Question / Help Reroute Display Video as fake "Camera" input?

I'm trying to do the equivalent of what SoundFlower or Audio HiJack does, but for video.

I would like to "hijack" the video from my video card and route it as a virtual "camera" source. This would be so that software which derives its video only from a camera (like Zoom) would be fooled into thinking that my screen/display video is a "camera". And no, "screen sharing" in Zoom will not work for our purposes.

This is what the VirtualCam plugin does. Currently it is only available on Windows.

There is an effort underway to bring this functionality to MacOS, but it is currently still in development and requires compiling OBS yourself to use.
