Question / Help Replay Buffer not recording full length intended

Hello! I use the replay buffer feature to record stream content so that the music I play on stream doesn't get picked up (using audio tracks), and so that I can upload the gameplay to YouTube free of copyrighted content.

As of late however, my replay buffer seems not to capture for the amount of time it's supposed to. I have it set to 1200 seconds and despite me trying different recording options (NVENC 1080p, tried CBR, CQP) nothing seems to work. It used to work fine, so I'm not too sure what I'm supposed to do to fix it.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Hello,

Easy to Fix.

When you choose CQP, you have to put Time and Size (maximum Size taken by the file on your Hard Drive) in the Replay Buffer tab.

In Short, CQP will adjust the bitrate to keep the same quality on every single Frame.

I had this issue on BattleField 5, I was able to record 60 sec replay buffer sometimes (for 990Mo, the maximum size I put in settings for "file size")
But sometimes, on the most demanding scene, like PanzerStorm map, with many particles, dust, shadow, lightning, fog, 990Mo was fulfilled in 14sec !!!!

This is the main issue with CQP, to maintain the same quality, sometimes the scene needs 20-25 Mb/s bitrate and sometimes 120 Mb/s bitrate :(

Yeah, I still had that issue even with a high file size limit, which should have been unreachable. However, it seems updating to the latest OBS version solved it. I'll start with that next time.

Thanks for the help!
