Question / Help Replacing ShadowPlay with OBS

I am not a streamer, but I like occasionally recording entire playthroughs of some games with friends and having the ability to record moments when playing other times. ShadowPlay gives me exactly that, but has two drawbacks:

1) It can't separate audio tracks.
2) It produces variable frame rate files, which doesn't work right with editing software, requiring me to transcode the files before I can actually do anything with them.

So OBS with Voicemeeter has been been a great solution. With one *major* exception. Both OBS and Voicemeeter prevent my computer from sleeping. OBS I could live with just launching it before I play something, though I like having it always ready so I don't need to think about it. I had it setup to launch at startup with the startreplaybuffer flag, so it was just ready to go. But Voicemeeter is a bigger deal - which I realize this isn't the forum for - because I can't hear anything without it running.

Any advice? Using powercfg to override requests from the devices simply doesn't work. I'm not sure what else I could try. I really like the options this setup provides me, but having my computer awake 24/7 is not a price I'm willing to pay.
