Hey all, I have a couple of questions regarding the rendering lag I am seeing in my logs and on streams. I understand what is happening when there are "lagged frames", and that it is your GPU being unable to draw the next frame due to high usage, but I am wondering how this happening on such a scale to me.
My system specs:
CPU: i7-7700k @5.2Ghz
GPU: ROG Strix 1080 ti
RAM: 16Gb G Skill Trident 3200Mhz
I am not trying to stream anything that is out of the bounds of my system. I am streaming at 720p30FPS, my bitrate is 6k, as stable of a connection as I can possibly get, and I am using software encoding with a veryfast preset, and yet I am still getting frame lag. When doing testing, the first few seconds of games like Apex are literally unwatchable because of massive frame lag. Even streaming some mildy modded Skyrim cause some frames to lag even when framerates are capped and the GPU approaches the higher end of usage.
I am wondering how the gigantic streamers, streaming games on high settings, with high framerates, with just a single 1080ti? How are they not experiencing any lagged frames? Is the burden being picked up by their high thread count processor?
EDIT: Yes in apex I have capped my frames and lowered settings, and Skyrim, due to the crappy nature of its engine, can easily max out a GPU for a fraction of a second when any mods are installed at all.
EDIT2: It seems literally everyone is not really understanding what issue I am running into. The issue I am running into is temporary rendering lag, and it can be seen in your OBS logs.
