Hey guys.

Can anyone help me with this issue I'm having? I'm trying to record my game (Lost ark) with 21:9 and have it upload onto youtube without black bars. Is this an issue that can be fixed within obs or is it impossible because my game is forced into 21:9

Here's what it looks like in OBS

And these are my video settings in OBS

Anyone have suggestions?

Set the base canvas and output to a 21:9 resolution isntead of the 16:9
Thanks for the reply! I did try swapping it after reading your comment, but it doesn't look like it changed anything in the actual video itself. The preview looks a bit more stretched, but the actual video looks the same as 16:9. Are there any other settings I should send you that might be an issue?

Once the canvas is a 21:9 resolution, you can click on the game capture and CTRL+F (fit to screen). Alternately, you can right-click the capture in the Sources list, go to Transform, and select Reset Transform.

Keep in mind you cannot force a 21:9 source into a 16:9 destination / vice versa. Different aspect ratio means there is some part of the picture in one aspect ratio that is missing in the other aspect ratio. In 21:9 there is more picture to the right and to the left, and missing picture info on the top and the bottom than in 16:9, so if you don't want to cut that additional picture info, you need to add black bars to the top and to the bottom to keep aspect ratio of the actual picture info.

The other way round is if you have 16:9 material and want to show it on a 21:9 monitor: in the 16:9 material, there is more picture info to the top and to the bottom, and missing picture on the right and the left, so a non distorting conversion has to add black bars to the left and to the right.

So if you intend to produce content for viewers other than you personally, you need to look what aspect ratio their media players will have. The vast majority of users has 16:9 aspect ratio monitors, so they will have 16:9 players. See the Steam hardware survey. To provide these users with the best video, you need to produce the same aspect ratio, i. e. 16:9.

If you producing game videos, this means if you don't want to show black bars or distort the video by stretching it, you need to play and record the video with a 16:9 resolution, even if you have a nice widescreen monitor with 21:9 aspect ratio. Set your game to 1920x1080, set OBS canvas resolution to 1920x1080 and record this. Your game will have black bars to the left and to the right of your monitor, but the footage you create will have no black bars on the monitors of your viewers.

I have G614JVR laptop and im having similar issues as him.

My native is 2560x1600 even if i get in game to not show borders and the recorder and later after uploads to youtube and still shows black borders...

It sounds like your saying , black borders will persist in obs and game settings irregardless....

Why cant I get a fullscreen capture like 1920 x1080 but with the game and obs being set to 2560x1440? Or 1600?
Without black borders showing on youtube once its uploaded????

Can you explain that?

Is there no way to get a 1440 fullscreen in game and obs capture to not show black borders?

I woukd like to at least get fullscreen 1440 for youtube content without black bars????

How can kri and I achieve this????
