I believe that is the camera focus window....In my canon that can be turned off in the camera settings...

Look in your manual..It's called 'Focus Bracket Mode' or Light Metering Modes...
i don't know if this will turn it off but it will at least give you info on what it is..

Just figured it out.. There is a switch on the camera lens that says AF and MF .. I switched it to MF and the box vanish..

AF is autofocus and MF is manual focus. The white box is showing you what portion of the image the camera is using to autofocus. So when you switch to manual focus, it stops.

Would been nice if you seen my posting before I figured that out.. :)

Wouldn't have helped-- I don't have the same camera, and the white box could have been from any other kind of metering function as well, not just focus. I just posted to clarify what AF and MF mean in this context.

I do notice since I turn the AF off.. I have to focus the lens by hand to get it into focus .. That part stinks.. Wish was another way to remove the white box then turning the Auto Focus off.. Its a real pain trying to record my self standing in front of the green screen while its out of focus.. Then I would have to walk to the camera and then turn the lens to get it into focus ..

The bottom line is that DSLRs aren't made to be webcams, unfortunately. They were never really intended to be used as live video cameras via their HDMI outputs, or there'd be better control over OSD elements appearing in those outputs.
