Question / Help Reinitialize Webcam after disconnect?

Okay, I am running a stream with a camera. The camera gets unplugged and thus the camera image gets frozen in OBS.

If I plug the camera back in, the image never gets unfrozen and the camera never reinitializes.

The only way I've seen to fix the camera is to restart OBS... thus restarting the stream. Is there any way to fix this?

I'd try to fix whatever is unplugging your camera mid-broadcast. OBS does not handle devices disappearing mid-stream.

Umm... isn't that what I said? The camera got unplugged, does it matter why? Something got caught in the cable, who cares.

I'm asking if there is away to re-initialize the camera without having to restart OBS.

In fact, often I am FORCED to unplug the cameras myself because of how bad the Logitech drivers are.

I use 2 Logitech c920 cameras. I can't configure both cameras at the same time; I have to unplug one of the cameras to access the control panel for the other camera; otherwise the control panel always focuses on a single camera, and I can't control the other.

I NEED to be able to unplug the cameras and then plug them back in without having to restart OBS like I could do in XSplit.

The answer sounded pretty clear: no, there is not a way to fix this, at least not currently, because OBS does not handle devices disappearing mid-stream.

Actually, I figured it out and I CAN re-initialize the cameras mid-stream.

If I go into the camera properties and enable "custom resolution", then disable it... it re-initializes the camera.
