For me, the betas never crash. At least, I don't remember when it crashed the last time for me.

But I use almost no plugins. As far as I see from crash reports here in the forum, almost all crashes are due to some 3rd party plugin that is either buggy or not current. I'm also running on current desktop hardware (as of Q3 2023), current and updated version of Windows 11, current GPU driver version (Nvidia), which is probably as near as you can get to the hardware used by the OBS developers themselves.

Sometimes, 3rd party plugins need to be updated for a new version of OBS, but for a OBS beta such plugins are usually not updated yet. If you rely on plugins, consider not updating to a beta or be prepared to downgrade and restore your config to some backup to revert any changes the beta might have been done to the config.

Beta version, as the name suggest, are not finish and of course may introduce issues like the different versions of the beta showed.
Like with any other major update, plugins must be updated to be compatible with this new version. If you use plugins of course this will cause a crash.

Never use a beta version on a production environment. Ever.

Hi koala,
Its adam again, i seem to b having a minor issue with obs not the beta version though its the one on my gaming pc at my aunts. Ive had to keep removing obs and reinstalling it because my chroma key cam keeps on turning fuzzy and losing its proper look. I've been having to do this for a few months now and dont know whats going on. Everytime i put my pc to sleep and wake it up again i get the same thing. Its a constant hassle to having to keep redoing my chromakey again and again. If u would happen to have any advice on this matter please let me know thanks.

Sincerely,
Adam

Do not put to sleep the computer. Always turn it off.
And at least once a week you have to restart it. Every time you see something not working correctly, always restart it as the first thing you do.

Hi paisand,
Its adam again. I am unable to restart it during the week cause im not with it during that time only on the weekends.

Sincerely,
Adam

If you're not using it, shut it down. All the way off. If it takes forever to start back up again, there are ways to automate that, so it's ready when you come in.

Likewise, if it must be on 24/7 - maybe it's doing other things too - there are ways to automate a reboot.

Hi aarond,
Its adam just wanted to double check with u that if im not using the computer
during the night would that make a difference in my chromakey settings or would i have to reconfigure it all manually let me know thanks.

I think that's more likely caused by the not-finished bleeding-edge version of OBS that could do any number of wrong things without warning. That's what Beta means. Use at your own risk, and don't ever rely on it for anything important. Use the formally released version instead.

Probably the Beta version is not saving correctly. So when you close and reopen the Beta version of OBS, it's wrong again. Nothing to do with shutting down the computer, or sleeping, or rebooting, or anything else. The Beta version is not ready for production, by definition, and could easily do things like that.

Again, dump the Beta version, and use the formally released one instead.

Hi aarond,
Just wanted to let u know that where my other pc is it has the formally released version of obs not the beta so thats why im wondering if shutting down my computer for the night would have a positive effect on my chromakey settings or if i would need to reset them manually or whatnot let me know thanks.

Sincerely,
Adam

So many questions can be answered by a simple experiment...

We can discuss the theoreticals forever, but it's not going to mean a whole lot. Try stuff and find out!

Also see if you can find the absolute minimum that it takes to produce the problem. Then you can submit a bug report.
