Question / Help Red color blurry when recording

I have tried a lot of different settings now including using different Encoders, File Formats, Bitrates, Color Formats, YUV Color space and range, but whatever I do, red text and smaller icons always are blurry.

I have attached a log and a screenshot of the problem.

Well, it's a simple question, but it's a complicated answer.

The short answer is really that you can't fix it. Not because of OBS but because of digital image compression.

It has to do with how the color is stored in the compressed format, and bright red is known to suffer. The color space you can choose in OBS, either Rec. 709 or Rec. 601 determine how the chroma subsampling is done.

Here is someone asking about the same thing - with a good answer on StackExchange.

Here are some videos from YouTube's Computerphile trying to explain it - they talk about JPEG but it's the same with video:
JPEG Pt0: Colourspaces
JPEG Pt1: JPEG 'files' & Colour
JPEG Pt2: JPEG DCT, Discrete Cosine Transform
The Problem with JPEG

I would try to explain it better myself if I could, but I find it difficult to fully explain myself.

Actually, for local recordings I think you can try the RGB color format, but you can't really stream anything other than the NV12 format.
