Hi folks,
I have a strange problem, when I use OBS Studio or OB Classic on Windows 10 x64 or Arch Linux x64 my video recordings lag / stutter. The CPU workload is always below 50% and most time even below 40%.

I did a few tests and noticed, that If I record a game in windowed mode, it doesn't lag as long as it is not the focused window. (check the youtube video link above, when you hear sound, it's focused, when not, it's not... And as you can see, the framerate increases/decreases significantly)

The game itself runs perfectly smooth all the time (no matter if focused or not)

What I've tried:

- Disabling sound capture
- Changing 44.1khz to 48khz
- I tried QSV & x264 encoding (yes I have a second on-board videocard)
- Changing OBS Priority to higher and high. (in OBS-Settings and manually in the taskmanager)

Nothing helped and I'm out of ideas. Can you help me?

11:15:34.354: Output 'simple_file_output': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 664 (43.9%)

Have you tried using the recording presets instead?

Thanks for your answer. Do you mean Settings->Output->Recording Quality? If yes, yes I did try them all. Same result.

After reading the Windows 10 post, I found a (temporary) solution. Changing Advanced->Renderer from d3dx11 to OpenGL did the trick for me. Lag-Free recording.. Although the quality is not as good as before, but still good enough.

So you tried using indistinguishable quality, software low cpu use encoder?

Also, it isn't really advised to use opengl, even with the win10au issue.
