Question / Help Recordings/Streams extremely choppy/ low fps after upgrading to Windows 10.

I'm on an Asus G750JM-DB71, which is a laptop, and currently I'm at my wits end in dealing with OBS. Before I upgraded to Windows 10, I was on 8.1, and I tried out some recordings and some test streams and I was able to achieve great quality in both. It was smooth and looked very nice.

I've since installed Windows 10 and re-installed OBS and now I can't for the life of me get it to work. No matter what setting I change, the outcome is always the same. Whether I max out the settings or reduce it to one pixel, the quality comes out looking alright but it's as if it was a GIF image. Keep in mind that this happens *even* when I reduce all of the settings. I can only reduce it so much until I can't even actually see what's going on in the recording...

Once again, I'm 100% sure it's not my laptop because I've already recorded multiple files for personal playback as well as streamed the same games I'm currently trying to to no avail. The only explanation I can find is that it has something to do with Windows 10.

https://gist.github.com/anonymous/9a15a3e347eb512bf171405c70760a2a is the log file. I've already looked over all of the "try this before posting" threads and my only option is to post this direct log to see if anyone can see what the mess is going on. Thanks.

17:12:09.105: [game-capture: 'OW'] init_hook_info: user is forcing shared memory (compatibility mode)

Turn off multi-adapter compatibility in the game capture properties.

Also, make sure you're capping FPS in your game to avoid maxing out the mobile GPU.

Lastly, check that the Windows Game Mode is disabled.

Hello, Multi-adapter is already turned off and I've swapping between On and Off with Game Mode to no avail. Is there a specify reason Game Mode should be disabled? I thought it was a good thing. Also, what methods should I use to "cap fps" in my games -- V-sync? If not that, what other methods are there. Does Limit Capture Framerate on the game capture do anything?

No, these options are in the games themselves.

The message in your log indicated that multi-adapter is on (that line will not show up unless the box is checked) so perhaps you upload the wrong log.

Please post a link to a clean log file. To make a clean log file, first restart OBS, then start your stream/recording for ~30 seconds and stop it again. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc. When you're done select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.

I painstakingly factory-reset my computer last night. It originally came with Windows 8, and I had upgraded to 10 with the Assistive Technology method. What I've come to realize is that Windows 10 didn't treat my two GPU's correctly (Integrated and Discrete), while my original OS does -- because it was built to work with the graphics cards. My OBS now records like it did the first time I recorded on Windows 8 -- smooth and high quality. I'm glad I fixed it by getting rid of Windows 10.

Thanks for your help anyways!
