Question / Help Recording Visual Boy in OBS

I am trying to start a youtube channel and would like to record content from the gameboy emulator Visual Boy Advance. Anytime I attempt to preview stream, the screen stays black, and the box in the bottom left hand corner stays grey. If anyone has an answer please help!

P.S. If it matters i am trying to record and not stream

Does it work with Game Capture if you change the render method to Direct3D or OpenGL?
