You are right that I have a modern CPU & I suppose it has a GPU built in. But I'm not using that, as you can see in the attached log.
The relevant source definitions are in a group I created. They are flagged in the attached log as "Window Capture", "Window Capture 2", "Window Capture 3", & "Window Capture 4", all associated with "executable: SubtitleEdit.exe". Those are meant to capture, respectively, the main SE window, the undocked Audio visualizer, the SE Settings window dialog, & the SE Shortcuts window dialog. My plan is to record me opening & closing the Settings & Shortcuts dialog windows. Those 2 windows would not be open initially. My expectation is that even though those windows are not open to begin with, since I'm trying to record activity in the group, that the relevant member of the group would recognize its target coming into existence & include it in the recording. I must point out that the way the SE architecture is set up, those 4 windows are all navigable independently via Alt+Tab.
My 4 Window Capture definitions do not have compatibility mode checkboxes like you have mentioned. I have tried setting the Capture Method to all 3 choices without success. I have also set the Window Match Priority to Title must match as well as Match title, otherwise find window of same executable.
Actually, I may have made some progress. I am attaching the short video I managed to record in OBS. I think there are a couple of anomalies there. I'm doing a Window Capture, yet the recording begins with OBS itself visible. I'm not trying to record my OBS window. Why is it even shown? Then, the SE Audio visualizer is in the recording in 2 places. The location lower down the screen is the right one. The location partially truncated at the top is something I don't want. Why is that there?
Wait. I put my screen recording into a zip file to satisfy forum requirements. It's only a bit over 3M. But the forum is telling me the file is too big. I've been looking for forum FAQs & guidelines & I can't find any. My searches keep turning up discussions of OBS features & issues, not instructions for how to use this forum.
OK. Plan B. I have taken a handful of screenshots extracted from the video OBS recorded. That's what you can see below. I hope the OBS log file is also attached.
