Question / Help Recording/Streaming only game audio without VAC or similar?

Greetings OBS Forums

If any of you have tried Steam's Broadcasting feature lately you will notice that you can broadcast the game audio and nothing else. Without modifying system settings outside the game. As well as without the use of programs such as VAC. see this Image.

Surely there must be a way to do this with OBS. Or perhaps a way to implement it? I unfortunately don't understand how they're able to achieve this. Perhaps someone could at the very least elaborate on that?

Thank you.

Steam can do this because of how closely it is tied to the games it runs. Technically, OBS could do something like this if you could add a program as a "video capture device". But OBS would need to hook very very closely to the game (in a way that may not be liked by many games) to achieve this level of capture. It's why all other programs that record video/audio (like, but not limited to: Fraps, Bandicam, Shadowplay, Xsplit, Dxtory, Playclaw, MSI Afterburner, Xfire's old streaming service, livestream procaster or FMLE) grab the game audio as well as say... your music player, or teamspeak, or skype.
