Recording / Stream - Intermittent performance hit

Hi all,

Was hoping someone could help me with a little sanity check, I recently built a dual PC setup and have been doing some testing. As per the norm my gaming rig is hooked up to my streaming rig via a HD60s, streaming rig is purely dedicated and not used for anything else, specs for both are:

Streaming PC:
CPU - Ryzen 5900x
RAM - 16gb Ballistix (2x8 3600)
MOBO - Asus ROG B550-I
GPU - An old Radeon 7000 series (purely for VDU as only using x263 for encoding)
M.2 - 250gb Samsung 970 evo plus

Gaming PC is:
CPU - I9 10900k
RAM - 64gb Corsair Vengeance RGP Pro (3200)
MOBO - Asus Maximums XII Hero
GPU - Asus RTX 3090 TUF OC
m.2 - 500gb Samsung 970 ev
SSD - 4x Samsung 1Tb 860 Evo

When reviewing recording / VODs I have noticed that around 5 - 6 mins in it gets pretty choppy, will stay like that for a few mins then clears up entirely and is silky smooth again, the log attached was taken after a recording which lasted approx 40 mins, this is what I observed during this recording:

6 Mins - Started to get choppy
9 Mins - Clears and is buttery smooth again
22 Mins - Starts to get choppy
25.5 Mins - Clears again and is perfect
End - Was ok for remaining recording

During this recording I was monitoring system usage and thermals, CPU does not exceed 51 degrees, RAM usage is minimal as is CPU / M.2 utilisation, GPU doesn't even come into play as its purely for VDU. No frames were dropped due to encoder or render lag at all, output stats were all perfect so it has left me a little confused to say the least. Am I missing something silly like buffering or something like that with regard to the capture device? In addition when things start to get Janky the preview itself starts to degrade a little but the gameplay on my gaming PC is perfectly fine which is why I am thinking something like buffering etc, maybe a failing capture card. In all honesty I don't have a clue what most of the stuff in the logs means so was hoping one of the guru's might be able to steer me in the right direction :)

All of the usual bits have been carried out such as:

Running OBS Elevated (thats a given :D)
Setting OBS priory to above normal / high
Alternated and tested other bitrates / profiles
Game Bar: Off
Game DVR: Off
Game DVR Background Recording: Off
Game Mode: Off

Have tried to provide as much concise info as possible but if I have missed anything out please say, thanks in advance to anyone who looks at this thread, any feedback would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Rob

Might be able to acquire a friends HD60s + to test later, just wondered if in the interim anyone had any thoughts :)

Sorted, the devil really is in the detail with regard to video settings and how you duplicate or extend! Runs for hours on end now and does not miss a beat!

Happy chap!
