Question / Help Recording Settings

What a Hoax

New Member
Hi all,

Pretty new to this whole thing. I've searched around forums and tried many suggestions. My main problem is that I get very noticeable fps lag in game while recording and my recordings skip a whole bunch. I've downgraded to recording in 720p but it's not all that great compared to 1080p. I feel like I have a pretty decent computer... (specs below). What I've come to the conclusion of is that I can't record in 1080p, do you really think this is the case or is there some direction I'm not going in that I should be for the best quality recording?

There's also a Guide on using QSV in the resources/guides section, but really if you set the x264 Preset to Ultrafast, it's going to have about as much impact. The real key is setting the Buffer to 0, which unlocks OBS to use as much bitrate as it needs for maximum quality. Be aware, this will eat BIG CHUNKS of your hard drive. But it's easily re-encoded later to a more reasonable filesize with a multi-pass non-live encoder.
