Recording phone voice call set to speaker

Hi,

I tested recording a phone call using my laptop with obs and I had my phone on speaker but seems if during the call we have moments were both were talking at the same time, then obs doesn't record anything, I heard nothing and then once only one person is talking things go back to normal and in the video mp4 I recorded I har myself or the other person, but once we both are talking at the same time , those short moments seems he can't figure out and I hear nothing.

I'm aware I need to ask the other person if it's ok to record.

Any solutions for this low quality simple recording?

If you're running the call itself through Windows, then Windows is probably trying to be smart in ways that don't match what you're actually doing. That happens a lot, and the result can be comically stoopid.

What if you separate the duties into two machines: one for the call, and a different one to record. They don't have to be 2 desktops: one or even both could be a literal phone, depending on how much custom wiring you want to do. (I suspect there'll be *some* custom wiring...)

You don't necessarily have to keep that arrangement. Once it works, you might find a way to recombine them in a way that still works. But you do need to think about it that way at least, and make sure the machine does too.

The issue is that I often receive calls on my iPhone and only have my laptop nearby. When I try to record the call in speaker mode by placing the iPhone close to the laptop, I notice that the sound often drops out, especially during moments when both people are speaking simultaneously. I've tried using the default Windows recorder, but the result is the same – some audio just isn't captured.

I don't think I can install any app on the iPhone that would record calls completely, right?

It's frustrating that with all the high tech available today, we still can't easily record a simple phone call!

You're setting the phone next to the laptop and recording...the laptop's open-air mic??? I don't see how that *wouldn't* work. Am I still missing something?

I've seen apps for Android that claim to record phone calls. Essentially, the recording app is also a phone app itself, and handles everything. I have no idea what exists for iOS. Sorry.

You might ask on an iPhone forum, how you might do everything in the phone.
