Bug Report Recording Output File [Issues]

I don't know too much about recording and broadcasting software, so don't take anything I say to heart.
After downloading and installing OBS and watching the tutorial by MrCrumps2 I gave it a show at broadcasting to my channel and to be fair it was far more easier than Xsplit (just like everyone was saying). So after broadcasting I decided to have a shot at recording to an output file and see how'd it compare to other dedicated recording devices such as Fraps and Action! and ill be honest if my computer wasn't as bad as it was it would probably have recorded better, aside from that here were the issues I came across:

- Video and Audio were de-synced (meaning that they didn't match together at the correct times for those that don't know)
- The quality wasn't AMAZING (good just not amazing) even though I set it for 10. This is probably due to the fact that I was recording from Software Capture and not the experimental Game Capture.
- Took an amazing amount of cpu to record at 1280x720 30fps with a quality of 10. (unlike Fraps) So even though I originally had 60 fps in my game as soon as I turned on OBS it easily shot down to a good 25.

Jim I love what your doing and even if you don't fix this because it wasn't what you intended OBS to be i'm still satisfied with it and how simplified you've made live broadcasting for everyone. If you need to know my computer specs to take a shot at any of the issues I had just let me know and ill post them for you to laugh at

MP4 currently has a sync issue I think, though I believe I found the issue and will be uploading a patch in a test version in a bit. fraps doesn't compress (I think) so it probably doesn't use much CPU in comparison. I use x264 for all the video compression.

With that being said about the x264 codec being used for the video output, is it possible to set OBS so that it doesn't use it? And if such an option exists you please explain how I could do it?

There's no such option, but maybe if you were lucky you could set x264 to use less CPU, maybe google something about it and then use it in custom x264 arguments. You could for example set a very high bitrate, the file would then be bigger but maybe it won't be such heavy when encoding. I don't know the nature of x264 so I may be wrong.
