Question / Help Recording only my game's audio

Hi !

I'm not familiar with OBS Studio, and I need help.
I want to record a video of me and my friend playing a game (Minecraft).
But I do have a problem : I can record my game, but the problem is with the audio.
We both are recording our game and audio separately, and we are connected on Discord.
Is there a way to only record the game's audio, and not my friend's voice ?

Thanks,

Napsius

You need to tell Windows to send audio from Discord and from Minecraft to different devices in order to either capture them separately, or to capture one but not the other.

Usual way would be to install Voicemeeter. It will replace your default Windows audio device and give you more control, as well as a "virtual" device. You can use this device as the output device for Discord. This will let you have 2 separate sound sources in OBS-- game audio and chat audio. You can balance audio separately, set up automatic ducking, or mute one source if you prefer.

For each virtual sound device you will be able to use Voicemeeter to send that output to a hardware device; you can also use the Monitoring feature within OBS to send output of sound sources to a device (real or virtual).

Oh okay thanks ! So all I have to do is to send Minecraft's audio to Voicemeeter(who'll be redirecting to my headset) and capture the Voicemeeter's audio with OBS ?

Basically, yes.

Follow the quick start guide in the Voicemeeter manual.

Basically you'll get a Voicemeeter and a Voicemeeter AUX as devices. Make one your Windows default (the guide covers this) and set the other as your chat output.

You'll then be able to send output from both or either of those devices to a hardware device for listening in the Voicemeeter interface.

It doesn't work :/ Everythig is setup correctly (I hear everything and Discord and MC are on separate channels) BUT I still can't record the game if I'm not on the desktop audio (same output as Discord). I'm totally clueless at this point. I just need MC to not be on the desktop audio, and record its channel. How do I do this ? If followed the guide, and it doesn't help me on this...

Nevermind, I just noticed my error. I don't know of to fix it yet, but I'm pretty sure if i use my brain it'll do it

Okay that's weird. I didn't had the VM AUX, so I tried reinstalling VM. Now I do not have any of those two devices...
