How can I record only the broadcaster window and not the chat that comes on the same screen?. Every time I want to screen record, I have to put it in full screen. I know it has to be an easy solution, but I am new to this and dumb. lol

Add a crop filter and you can capture a portion of the screen.

You can also specify to capture the display but crop the capture to a particular window.

Suggest you read the quick start guide. It's hard for anyone to help if they need to explain each piece of basic terminology like "source" and "filter" since doing almost anything in OBS requires using them.

Sources are where you get video or audio from. They appear listed in the Source area of the OBS window.

Right-clicking a Source and choosing "Filters" from the drop down menu let you alter sources. For video sources, one alteration you can make is a Crop-- you can leave out portions of the image.

For Display captures, in the Properties pane for the source (not Filters) you can specify that OBS automatically include only the part of the display around a particular window. This is the "Crop: To Window" option.
