I've been trying to record the game "The Forest" and when recording it leaves large gaps on the bottom and right side of the screen that are blank. I have tried every different combination of recording downsizing and the screen size in the game even full screen and windowed but don't know what to do. I attached a YouTube video of some gameplay and you can see the screen is pretty messed up. The screen is like that before it was posted to YouTube. Here's the video.
too.

Here's my log I didn't know what exactly was needed so I copied everything.

Well are you certain the game is fully covering the Preview screen in OBS?

I'd suggest running the game in windowed mode, then either using game capture or window capture.. then just use fit to screen in the properties for such source. You can manually stretch(hold shift) and crop(hold alt) as well.

Thank you I wasn't really sure what I was doing as I am new to OBS. I never used game capture before so I tried it out and got it to work. Couldn't get it to work in window capture though still but that's probably just me because I don't understand how to manually crop it. I just checked the stretch to screen box in game capture. Would that make the game look stretched out? sorry I didn't have time to see if it looked stretch out forgot.

Unless you check "ignore aspect ratio" it will keep its aspect and only scale to your Base Resolution of OBS. So the picture should look just fine assuming the game runs on your desktop resolution.
Only in the case that your game runs on a lower resolution than your desktop/base resolution it would get "upscaled" in size, but still keep the aspect of course. You would get a kind of Zoom effect which can decrease the quality slightly.
To get around that you could lower your Base Resolution in OBS to the Games resolution and set the downscale to 0. The game should then fit perfectly into your OBS scene.
