Question / Help Recording in Obs

When I record in obs, I want to record at around 120-240 FPS like @marrentm does to make my gameplay smooth, but when I do this it makes my file really laggy. I’m not very good at obs so I don’t know what to do. Also when I upload on YouTube why is my quality not the best? My Yt: Viiperzz
I’d love my quality to be as good as people like marrentms , if anybody could help I would really appreciate it :)

You cannot record at 120-240FPS, most computers today cannot push such a high fps. Besides, recording at 120FPS would only be beneficial to those with a 120Hz monitor, and 60Hz monitors will not be able to view such a video. YouTube only officially supports 60FPS, so change your recording to 60FPS.

In reality, 120FPS is only needed for when you're playing games, as the extra hertz allow your monitor to report faster, but even then, there's not much of a difference other than visual appeal. Marrentm is a pro player, and he uses the extra FPS for gaming as it is a competitive advantage, but for video, change your FPS to 60.

I think (but I'm not sure) OBS only officially supports 60FPS recording, although I may be wrong. Change the FPS to 60, and you should be fine. You don't need to record a video at 120FPS,let alone 240FPS.

Please DO NOT plug your YouTube here. This is an OBS forum.

However, I do hope I helped!

Correct, recording or streaming above 60fps is not officially supported. High-framerate recording generally is not needed, and requires a very specifically tuned system to run properly. OBS *can* handle it, if the underlying hardware is up to the task and the user has taken all the needed steps to cut the production pipeline latency down.

Some jerk on YouTube has been recommending ridiculously high framerate recordings for things like Minecraft. This is terrible advice, and the person in question needs to be slapped hard. With a bus.

Naa, not so violent. I'd put a hex on him: "Great Lord of Lag and Stutter, I call upon you. His equipment shall crash and melt whenever someone tries to record his videos with a frame rate above 60, because 60 is the number, and the number is holy for video recording and must not be exceeded".

hahahahhahahahhahahah

I saw another individual follow this advice as well, so it turns out that many adventurers have been fooled by this false prophe-sorry I can't XD
