Hi Guys

Trying to record using window capture with OBS and it was working fine until I added my HD60S capture card footage to that window. Result is: An (Encoder Error occurred while recording).

I am using window 10 HP Omen GE Force GTXNVIDA Graphics card

Please help.

Hi Harold

Thanks for your help here's the log file. I'm trying to use OBS to window capture FPV Trackside and it did record fine until I added the game capture card into that window. Now when I hit the record button the encoding error pops up and won't record anything. With or with out the capture card.

Do I need to specify somehow in OBS to encode in the GPU and the CPU? How would I go about doing that?

The error in the log is consistent with the video card failing or crashing. it's possible the card got knocked loose if you installed an internal capture card.

Hopefully it shouldn't be loose, its a brand new laptop that I had in storage and didn't install an internal capture card.

Would it come up with that error if the video graphics card needs updating or never activated initially properly when I first booted up the computer for the first time?

As it happens I did try OBS on another laptop (same model) and the same result, also I tried using the elgato software and it works great.

But for this project I need it to record capture for a sports event that uses multiple lives cameras to one window in FPVTrackside, and then capture and record that in OBS with overlays etc.

Please find attached photo of HD60S (external capture card) like the one I have.

Hi Harold

Turned out that I was using the integrated graphics processor for OBS, so switched it over to the high performance NIVIDA processor, fully uninstalled, then reinstalled OBS. Opened OBS and selected the source window. Hit record and still it came up with "encoder error"

Please find attached log for this test, Any ideas?

Ok so it's a laptop.
Which means that you're likely causing power related issues by using the capture card that's manifesting as a GPU crash.

Hey Harold

I did have the laptop plugged into the wall at the time, if that changes anything.

I tried with no capture card and just a basic record of a web cam and it still had the same result.

Oddly the first time I used the software it recorded fine, then I plugged in the capture card and then error.

Thanks

hello,

log analyzer told me:
"Critical Wrong GPU
Your Laptop has two GPUs. OBS is running on the weak integrated Intel GPU. For better performance as well as game capture being available you should run OBS on the dedicated GPU. Check the Laptop Troubleshooting Guide."
But settings setup cannot help
maybe the reason is the following? what can I do with it?
