Recording Capture Card Audio without being able to hear it while doing so

Apologies if this is a weird one, but I'm trying to record some gameplay through a capture card in a specific set up.

I have my Xbox through the capture card, in OBS as a Video Capture Device. I can hear the game audio, but in order to sync it up to the video I had to put a .5 sec delay on.

At the same time, I have my headphones plugged in to the Xbox controller so I can hear the audio in real time.

This means I can hear the game feed twice, the OBS version on a slight delay.

Is there a way to mute this on OBS so I can't hear it as I play, but it still records in the video? It's only showing up as audio in the Global settings, so if I mute that it just mutes the whole thing. And I can't seem to get the audio to show up as a separate source in the audio mixer.

I've only got a cheap capture card so maybe that's just a limitation of that, but hoping someone might have an answer please!
