Question / Help Recording a skype interview in obs?

Hey, all!

I thought this can be done but somehow I have an issue here. So here is my setup

I set 3 scenes in obs:
1 . my webcam ( video recording device)
2. a skype window of the guest I will interview
3 a side by side of both my webcam and the skype window

Problem is that if I open skype, it cannot access my webcam ( used by another program it says).
This way I get the result what I want but the person who I m interviewing cannot see me.

Can this be done with one webcam, or do I need a second one?
I tried using an older one I have for skype viewing only but somehow the program just recorded only one scene...

Any help would be appreciated! Cheers

You could try deactivating the webcam in OBS Studio in the Video Recording Device's properties whenever you need to make a call through Skype. This will free the camera for other programs to use.

thanks for your reply. If I deactivate the camera in obs then I cannot really capture myself in a separate window as far I can tell. Or is there a way to capture in skype both the caller and the guest in separate windows?

Oof, good question. I haven't really used Skype in ages for video calling so I got no clue.

I'mwanting to do the same thing. Did you find a fix?

I want to record myself and my guest, while allowing my guest to see me on cam as well.

Bump need help with this too. Perhaps the workaround is to disable the camera in OBS and then do a window capture for the guest in Skype and a window capture in Skype again where you crop your video. That way when you're conducting the interview, the guest can still see you.

You are going to need a second camera because Skype and OBS will not share a camera. Set up one for your OBS shot. And add a second USB camera and set that as your skype return camera (do not set it up as a source in OBS)

I use SplitCam (donationwear) and it works flawlessly. It becomes a virtual webcam and provides video to both OBS and Skype.
