Question / Help record to m3u8 plugin

hello, can anyone create a plugin so i can record my desktop to an m3u8 file to stream it live from my web server to the internet so users can watch the stream via vlc. thank you

Use OBS Studio, it can output to m3u8. Though it sounds like you should be running an RTMP server and streaming to that instead.

thank you for getting back to me but i just want to be able to access the m3u8 stream over the internet with my Roku and the roku will read h.264 stream in m3u8 format.

i think i got it recording to m3u8 now but how do i have it delete the old ts captures so it doesn't fill up my hard drive?

m3u8 is only a playlist file, you will still need the .ts files together with it.

Sounds like what you want is a private RTMP server that will serve HLS. Check out some of the nginx-rtmp guides in the resources section.
