Record mp4 format with h.265 and Nvidia

I would like to record with h.265 instead of h.264 and i see those options under custom but not sure that also uses Nvenc . Is there a good way to record mpp4 with h.265 using nvidia encoding? I have a gtx 1080

There is no good way to record directly to mp4 regardless of what encoder you're using.

What container you use is your decision but if your system tends to crash occasionally, follow Harold's advice.

Set the Video Encoder to: hevc_nvenc (hevc_nvenc)

i use mkv now and remux but that options inst available under the custom settings so to record using h.265 what container would one use?

like I said, using the custom output to select hevc_nvenc there is no option to choose mkv as a container.....

Oops... I stand corrected I was lookin for MKV, matroska does exist. thanks
