Record in the background while working in other apps?

Hello,

None of the sections match my question, so I'l post here since I'm using the Windows version.

Since OBS lets the user choose a given window to record (Window Capture → Window=My Title, "Client area" left to checked), I expected to be able to let it run in the background while working in other applications: It does record audio, but the video is stuck.

Is there a way to fix it, or should I really run OBS on a dedicated computer?

In short - it is normal that you can't record minimized application.

This needs clarification and details. Because the "background" state can be treated as half-covered window (stacked over/under, semi-transparent etc) or as minimized to taskbar (or even to tray).

For browser background tabs (that pausing/stopping their redraw) there are extensions like "AlwaysActiveTab" and similar solutions.

I want to minimize the recording screen window to background and i want to work some other task until my recording finish. I googled it but none of them went well, when i minimize record screen and started recording, it just gives me black screen but audio records well.

Hi, I've had this issue for quite a long time using D3D11 where it would cause my entire PC to freeze every few seconds to minutes (especially right when tabbing in or out of games, this will also occasionally crash the stream completely if it lasts too long so I can't ignore it either.

Now usually I could switch over to OpenGL to fix this but as of recently trying to stream to twitch with OpenGL results in the stream never going online and infinitely loading.

Here is my log file. I've searched online and found similar issues before but got no fix for it other than OpenGL which...

Thread 'Black screen if I minimize Power Point'

hello,

I have a scene in my OBS to capture the window of PowerPoint:exe. But if I minimize the windows of Power Point it disappears from OBS and I have a black screen. I think it wasn't like that before... It's a long time without using OBS, but I think before the Power Point windows was always in OBS, no matter if it was minimized on the bar. How is it work? I have to have it maximazied to capture it? Or can I find a way to have it all the time visible, no matter if it's maximized o minimized?
