Question / Help Really bad video quality

Hello everyone,

I just tried OBS for the first time, I recorded a CS:GO game.
The recording went fine and all, I didn't encounter too bad fps drops, but when I looked at the video there was really bad screen tearing (at least I think that's the technical term)
Anyway, the video quality was okay when the video was still, but when I started moving it wen't really bad.
Do you guys have any tips on how to get better video quality? I already lowered the resolution and fps to 720p and 30fps.

for local recordings, you will best be advised to follow this guide:

personally I would downscale to 720p

set a custom buffer to 0 (next to bitrate)

Uncheck CBR and padding

change x264 preset to ultrafast



Personally in CS:GO, I would disable vsync for recordings but that it really preference but shouldn't hurt your stream. OBS will grab frames when it needs so you dont have to lock fps with vertical sync.

Thanks alot, I'll try these things!

I didn't think I had VSync enabled, at least not on my PC and ingame, maybe I have in OBS
To be fair I hate the option as you can feel the difference between 60 and 200 fps, although you can't see it with a 60Hz screen.

yup, input lag is a thing.
