I planned to reply in this topic, but since I figure it's a more a "bug" than anything, I hope it's valid to post my reply here instead. I'm not particularly sure if OBS is to blame, but perhaps it can work around it?
I use foobar2000 and the AMIP Wrapper to write the title to a file, then use that file to display my song title in OBS. I get that perhaps this isn't necessarily what you're supposed to use it for, but more than anything the behaviour of this feature (retrieving text from updating txt files) seems inconsistent.
For anyone else wondering, there is a workaround using last.fm. I personally don't really want to make a last.fm account. And maybe I'll work on my own foobar2k plugin.
At any rate, thanks for all the hard work everyone puts into this program. You're doing amazing things.

- At times it will update constantly, but after long lulls it tends to not update at all. Does it have anything to do with activity?
- Another thing I noticed is that when I close foobar2k, the text updates automatically in OBS. Does it have anything to do with two programs trying to access the file simultaneously? When I tried updating the file manually, OBS would immediately update the list after saving the txt file.
